Description
The Buffalo Nickel design, created by James Earle Fraser in 1913, remains one of the most popular American coin designs to this day. Despite featuring on a small-denomination coin with no precious metal content, the design has endured. You can currently purchase 1/4 oz SilverTowne Buffalo Silver Rounds online from Metals Mint.
The Silver Rounds come with a variety of options. You can buy them individually, in bulk, or in acrylic tubes of 30 or boxes of 1,470 rounds. The rounds are made from .999 pure silver and replicate the Buffalo Nickel imagery. On the obverse, the design features a stoic indigenous figure in right-profile relief, a combination of facial features from three tribal elders of the early 20th century, as created by Fraser. On the reverse, you’ll find a stunning depiction of an American bison, with every detail of its fur and horns carefully crafted by Fraser.
Fraser’s redesign of the US nickel in 1913 came after the redesign of the US penny in 1909 and all four denominations of the US Eagle Gold Series in 1907 and 1908. In 1916, the dime, quarter, and half dollar were redesigned, followed by the US silver dollar in 1921.
When you purchase 1/4 oz Buffalo Silver Rounds from SilverTowne, you’ll receive them in plastic flips if you buy them individually. If you purchase multiples, they will come in acrylic tubes of 30 rounds or boxes of 1,470 silver rounds. The cardboard boxes hold 49 tubes inside.
