These new 1 oz SilverTowne Morgan Stackable Rounds are available through a partnership between SilverTowne Mint and A-Mark Precious Metals that launched in 2015. Previous American coin designs to feature include the Buffalo Nickel, with other designs featuring the American bald eagle, Liberty Bell, and the Owl of Athena in this stackable collection.
Each one of these silver rounds has a unique rim design that features interlocking teeth that enable you to securely stack the rounds without worrying about them falling over during storage and transport. Additionally, these rounds have a proof-like background finish on the both sides to add to their beauty.
The obverse of the 1 oz SilverTowne Morgan Stackable Round includes the left-profile portrait of Liberty. Created in 1878 by George T. Morgan, an Assistant Engraver at the United States Mint, this image was one of the last major silver dollar designs from the United States Mint. It includes the original use of “E Pluribus Unum” above the design and 16 stars surrounding her image.
On the reverse of the SilverTowne Morgan Stackable Round you’ll notice the original reverse from the Morgan Silver Dollar. It features the American bald eagle clutching an olive branch of peace in one talon and the arrows of war in the other. The only engraving from the original coin on this side is the nation of issue, with the weight, purity, and metal content of the round replacing the national motto and face value found on Morgan Silver Dollars.
The Morgan Silver Dollar was available from the United States Mint between 1878 and 1904, and then again briefly in 1921. Its debut in 1878 ended a five-year hiatus in silver coining from the mint, and its brief return in 1921 marked the first silver dollar issued after World War I’s conclusion.
